Fable

I can certainly understand many of the complaints I hear from people about Fable. The typical list includes long load times, a short storyline, and annoying fishing/spading sequences (not to mention complaints about features that were discussed but not implemented - base the game on its actual merit, not potential). There are others, but they're either atypical, or I understand the complaint.

Anyway, I have to say that I really enjoyed this game. I would like for future versions to be a bit more robust in number and variety of optional quests as well as a longer storyline (though I did enjoy the storyline - though briefer than RPGers are used to), but I really liked this game and I recognize the potential it has on affecting the "tried and true" model for RPGs, which, IMHO is getting a bit old and uncreative. This game was very enjoyable for me. I even enjoyed the little mini games which contrasts greatly to most of the mini games in any Final Fantasy incarnation. This game borrows a bit from KotOR, but these people are well-acquainted with an alignment system. When, and if, they make a sequel and I know this is asking alot - I saw the little DVD you get when you pre-order - but I'd like to see a main female character.

I have to talk a bit about the visual and audio effects. I believe both to be excellent. The main audio track is woven into the entire game, with subtle differences in different areas and never gets annoying. Not to mention all the dialogue thrown at you wherever you go - all being relevant to your situation as well (in the beginning, you'll get so annoyed with people calling you Chicken Chaser, you'll plunk down the dough to get a new, better title - hopefully better than Arseface, as well). And the visuals are great. Your character changes gradually throughout the game based on your decisions, dietary habits, the weapons you wield, tattoos and haircuts, etc, etc. The character system is extremely robust and thus adds a level to the immersiveness of the game.

If you own an Xbox and are in any way a fan of RPGs, you need to at least give this game a run. It is an extremely enjoyable game with tremendous replay value. I wholly recommend it to anyone interested in a unique, fun, and beautiful game experience.

Oh, and before I go, one last thing. In the future, it would be nice if you could bet more than 1,000 gold (at least at the Card Pairs table - heh).
