Silhouetted by the rays of a cool sunrise,
It sings its harsh tune to those creatures up at daybreak;
That of a squealing modem dialing loud and long to the web.
Its species nearly extinct,
It relishes the smell of the sweet dewey morning air.
And then it's gone,
Its wet footprints leading into the darkness.
Its descendents evolved to be immobile, without feet, but far more intelligent.
However, survival of the fittest is not the only threat to these pioneering workstations.
Poaching has also taken its toll on their population.
Many of these machines are hunted for their rare and valuable feet.
Some people string the feet into grotesque necklaces, others hang them from rearview mirrors.
The numbers of these machines with plastic appendages is dwindling.
This is one of several reasons this website was erected - to raise awareness for this noble cause
of protecting our artificial treasure - the computerfeet. *
ComputerFeet.com was created by Kit Semtner.
His sister, Jennifer Semtner, later helped with the design and development of the website.
Even later, she began contributing to its content.
Both are still actively involved in the site's maintenance.
